The Society Has Been Disolved effective 6-1-2012
May 19th, 2012

Please be advised that as of June 1, 2012, the Society of Old Guys and Gals is dissolved.
In existence for three and one-half years, the Society underwent a number of changes, the final one being its dissolution. None of its members, average age 70, had any interest in writing their memoirs. Only one or two of its members had any interest in continuing with past projects including a photo calendar and a very unique and personalized cookbook containing brief bios of each cook and photos of each wearing the official society cooking apron, as they prepared their best dishes.
What we learned from this experiment, among other things, is that getting old (65 and after) really isn’t “fun” and efforts to make it fun are all too often met with anger, sarcastic and mean-spirited critiques, and out right contempt for those leading the way.
As in most social media organizations, there was a small core of supportive members, but their number can be counted on one hand and a couple of more fingers. To these folks we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation for their participation and support.
The various attempts by others, some from within and others from without, to “kill the messenger” , have been successful. Although he is not physically dead, his brain child known as the Society of Old Guys & Gals, has passed on, effective June 1, 2012.
All the best to its survivors,
Old Ben
